Strong backs built

It took most of the day to get the strong backs built, but since I plan on building both halves of the floats and hull at the same time, it was really important to get everything lined up and square across the whole length on both strong backs. The plan is to line up the hull frames for both halves of the floats and main hull across both strong backs to cut down on the build time and ensure the bulkheads are lined up perfectly.

Once I got all the dimensions laid out, then checked and re-checked, I screwed and glued the lower rails to the floor and then spun a laser to get the vertical pieces cut to the right height, then finally the top rails and cross beams.

A mark on the floor starts the whole process

I used pieces of tape to mark the outer edges of the strong backs

Lower rails glued and screwed

The length of these rails is making the size of this is project more evident

About to get started on the second set of rails

Both rails installed - Vertical pieces cut to length

Vertical pieces installed at assigned location

Ready for top rails

Using a laser to align the entire length of the top rail

I have the laser running in this picture, but you can't see it until I turn the last light off (next picture)

A bit hard to make out, but you can just make out the laser hitting the top edges of the rails.
